In other news: Finnieston container plans and homes bid at Botanic Crescent Lane

Brief news items from around Glasgow West End, from planning applications to new restaurants opening.

FINNIESTON CONTAINER PLANS

Plans have been submitted for a new produce market and craft centre accommodation formed out of shipping containers.

The proposals with Glasgow city's planning committee are for a site at the Hive, off Argyle Street.

As a statutory consultee for planning applications, Kelvingrove and Yorkhill Community Councils have invited responses from local residents to inform its own response to councillors.

The planning application can be obtained by clicking the following link and entering the reference number 16/02718/DC - https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17240

COMMUNITY COUNCIL BACKS RESIDENTS' PARKING PLANS

Residents of St Vincent Crescent, Corruna and Minerva Streets in Finnieston have suggested a regime of parking restrictions for their area.

And Kelvingrove and Yorkhill community council says it will support their wishes in representations to council road planners.

In essence residents want permit-holder only restrictions to kick in between 6pm and 10pm from Monday to Sunday, and that the daytime restrictions, from 8am - 6pm, should be extended to 7 days a week.

Residents say there is no need to lower maximum stays during the day any lower than three hours.

Having discussed the proposals, the Community Council has agreed to support the Residents' Associations proposals.

KYCC has now requested a meeting with the Roads Department, Councillors, and then community about the parking proposals.

The area has an issue with streets becoming clogged up with traffic when events occur at the Hydro.

NEW PIZZA RESTAURANT OPENS AT PATRICK CROSS

Pizza West is opening its doors at Partick Cross directly over from the southern end of Byres Road.

The new eatery promises to be "rather unique", according to details on its Facebook page. It will offer sourdough pizza, select choice of beers and wines and unusual furnishings.

Pizza West recently took delivery of its very own Volcano pizza oven that will provide the heat for the produce.

PROPOSALS FOR FOUR HOMES IN BOTANIC CRESCENT LANE

Plans have been laid before councillors for four homes with parking where lock-up garage buildings are currently sited in Botanic Crescent Lane.

There have been 44 representations to the application which has been made by Exchange Court Properties Ltd.

These include one email of support from a local resident, 40 objections from local residents, and objections from Cllr Helen Stephen, Cllr Kieran Wild and Friends of Glasgow West.

They are concerned about the principle of developing the site, the loss of existing trees, the townscape impact on the Glasgow West Conservation area and nearby listed building, and the impact on the residential amenity of existing residents.
