Big crowds expected at Riverside Museum for busy street food festival and boat race

The first street food of its kind in Scotland promises to be

An expected 20,000 people will sample the delights of the Scottish Street Food Festival this weekend.

The two-day event over Saturday and Sunday will see 50 food and drinks stalls take over the precincts around the iconic Riverside Museum.

Saturday's programme coincides with the annual Scottish Boat Race which takes place on the River Clyde.

Visitors to the Riverside Museum will be able to enjoy the food and drink while watching all the action on the water.

Food festival director Brian Traynor told Glasgow West End Today it was set to be a fantastic weekend of entertainment.

"It's going to be a great location to be for both events.

"There are a series of boat races which start just by the Squinty Bridge and finish at the museum.

"Visitors to the Scottish Street Food Museum will have a birds-eye view."

All four sides of the museum concourse will be home to craft beer and street food vendors from across Scotland.

Offerings include The Crema Caravan, Street Food Putter Club, Firedog, Bowl Food, Nomad Wood Fired Pizza and more.

FIRST OF ITS KIND

Entertainment includes fully licensed bars, live music, and DJ's.

Brian said: "The festival is all about showcasing the best in Scottish street food and drink - from traders, vans and pop-up stalls.

"This is the festival in Scotland of its kind - and we are delighted to be in Glasgow at such a great location."

The Scottish Boat Race is fought between ancient rivals the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh.

After last year's success, Riverside Museum will be hosting the Scottish Boat Race Festival for a third year.
