'I've lost 11 kilograms since I started this baby-friendly class just two months ago'

A baby-friendly fitness class is proving popular with parents in the West End of Glasgow.

Fitness coach Gary Goldie is giving parents a safe and chilled space to exercise with their young children close by.

Gary is based at the Western Baths Club in Hillhead's Cranworth Street.

The hall has space for prams and easy access via a door on to the street.

Gary says the classes are a flexible arrangement.

"We find that a lot of the exercise classes that are available are more of a long-term sign up.

"Here, it's £5 for a drop-in class," says Gary.

"There's no long-term commitment, so there's no worries of baby has an off-day or you can't make it or you have an appointment.

"We also have the space here so that the babies can be by the side if baby needs attention or a change."

Gary adds: "Mums bring toys along - and if any baby is upset their mum will go along and play with them.

"But the mums are all very helpful, so if one baby is in need of attention all the mums help out.

"We are not exclusively for mums, but it just so happens that it's been most popular with mums."

Amy Fraser has been bringing her daughter Isla since she was just 12 weeks.

"I've lost quite a lot of weight - 11 kilograms since I started coming at the start of August.

"I'm getting my fitness back which is great.

"And I can take my baby to the class and know that if she cries Gary will pick her up.

"And I've met some lovely mums - so it's been great from a social perspective too."

Amy says: "It's very baby friendly - Isla is still breastfed so I couldn't go off to a class by myself.

"But taking her here means that if she's hungry I can feed her and still exercise as well which has been great."
