Craftsmanship on two wheels goes on show in Glasgow next month.
That’s when Brazin' The Scottish Hand built Bike Show returns to the Civic House in Woodside, below Speirs Wharf.
The bicycle show is back for its second year on Saturday August 3 following a highly-successful debut in 2023.
The inaugural Brazin’ expo featured 12 exhibitors. This year that number has grown by 50 percent to 18, with four frame builders coming from England.
All will be displaying their latest and most eye-catching designs.
Legacy
Also on display is a legacy exhibition of the legendary Flying Scot bicycles, made in Glasgow between 1901 and 1982.
Show director Richard Andrews said: “Glasgow has a long tradition of manufacturing industry, but since being voted the European Capital of Culture a while back we’ve seen a surge in arts and crafts and light industry like frame building.
“Bicycle frame building spans the gap between these pillars. It includes the components of design, style, and engineering.
“Custom bicycles are made to be ridden on open roads and rough trails but could equally be at home in an art gallery.”
For existing owners, it is an opportunity for a meeting and talk about how the bike is performing, and maybe talk about a possible next bike - Richard Andrews
The appeal of hand-built custom bicycle shows is many-fold, according to Richard.
“For prospective bicycle owners the relationship is important. Finding the right person to make your bike can make all the difference.
“For existing owners, it is an opportunity for a meeting and talk about how the bike is performing, and maybe talk about a possible next bike.
“For the manufacturers it is a rare opportunity to get together and share stories. For many attendees though, it is an opportunity for a day’s memorable window-shopping and wonderment.”
