Generous businesses in the West End are supporting a school fundraiser with donations of raffle prizes.
Meal vouchers, bottles of wine, and gifts have been offered to Hyndland Secondary Parent Council as part of its latest drive to help the school.
The group is raising money for a new sound system for the secondary’s Airlie Theatre which hosts assemblies, school performances and public events.
When parents wanted prizes for a raffle they turned to local businesses to see if they could help.
And they have been blown away by the generosity of shops, cafes and restaurants.
Grateful
All the prizes, big and small, have been gratefully received, and tickets are beginning to sell.
Among the donations are: a £100 gift token courtesy of West End Garden Centre; £100 from top restaurants Ox & Finch/Ka Pao; and £50 vouchers from Nostrana, Peckham’s and Sano Pizza on Argyle Street.
inHoos, the independent home and furnishing store on Great Western Road, has gifted a Ferm Living Rest Lamp that can retail to up to £185.
And One Devonshire Gardens at Hotel du Vin has offered a four-course champagne lunch for two which is advertised from £49 online.
Local hair salons have also given generously, with Coia, Hely Hair and Thomas Ionta all gifting a fabulous treatment and/or product.
Other prizes have come in from Corke & Caske, Wilson’s Catch of the Day, Sushi Riot, 29 States, Cottonrake cafe, Body Shop Beautiful and Spirito Gifts.
The money these gifts will raise will go to a good cause by improving the learning experience of our young people.
Alison Guthrie
Parent Council chair Alison Guthrie said: “We have been delighted at the response of local businesses to our request for prizes.
“Parents and the school really do appreciate the kind generosity of shops, cafes and restaurants.
“The money these gifts will raise will go to a good cause by improving the learning experience of our young people.”
The fundraiser is the first the parent council has been able to organise since before the pandemic.
The raffle draw will be held at a Quiz Night at Hyndland Bowling Club on Friday November 17.
Raffle tickets are available for parents to buy from the school office, or via pupils who can buy tickets on behalf of parents from the Captains’ Corner at the school’s Pupil Support Hub or Fuel Zone at lunchtimes.
