All hands on deck for The Glasgow Shanty Festival

Sounds and stories of the sea will ring out at The Glasgow Shanty Festival next month (Saturday September 3).

The city will celebrate its long tradition of sailing life with songs and tales of maritime adventure on The Tall Ship Glenlee.

Free family events will take place during the day with a line-up of bands singing shanties in the evening.

Kimber’s Men, Monkey’s Fist and Muldoon’s Picnic will provide the live entertainment.

Festival organiser Tom Malone said there was something for everyone.

“The Glasgow Shanty Festival is back, live, with a fabulous line-up of singers, musicians and story-tellers to raise the rafters on the Tall Ship Glenlee with an entire day of entertainment for the family.

“There’ll be free events during the day from 12:30pm: Story-telling, Sea Shanty Workshops, Craft Workshops, and all things maritime – and a rip-roaring evening of shanties from some of the UK’s finest bands.
