Video: Gary Goldie and Glasgow West End Today team up to get you fit and healthy

Personal trainer and hyperlocal website join forces to bring you tips on staying fit and healthy in the West End.

The stresses and strains of modern life get to us all at some point or another.

As a small aid to steering West Enders through the minefields of personal fitness, mental wellbeing and diet, we are starting a new series of short, fun, informative films.

Watch: Week 5 - Gary says we need to make time for ourselves.

Watch: Week 4 - Gary encourages us to seek out healthy lunch options.

Watch: Week 3 - Gary takes a walk in the park to get fit.

Watch: Week 2 - Gary tests out exercise equipment on the Kelvin Walkway.

Watch: Week 1 - Personal trainer Gary Goldie demonstrates simple step exercises.

Glasgow West End Today has teamed up with West End personal trainer Gary Goldie, who has bags of experience in tutoring people in the ways of health, fitness and wellbeing.

Gary undertakes personal training sessions with WestEnders at his base at the Western Baths off Byres Road.

Sprints: Simple exercises can build up general fitness levels.

Over the next six weeks, we will bring you different themes to explore at your leisure.

These will cover:

Fitness: good locations and areas for people to exercise and make use of what's around to create a fun and challenging work out.

Nutrition: how people can be proactive in planning their daily nutrition and where to go for the best healthy and nutritious lunches

Mindset and realistic goal setting: aimed at those people who can't exercise to a high intensity. What about when you really can't face exercise? How do we look after what's going on in our heads?

Gary said: "I work on a one to one basis with people with focus around physical fitness, mental wellbeing and nutritional awareness.

Elevated: Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's Sixty Steps make a stunning setting for exercise.

"People will recognise my job as a personal trainer but I know it goes a lot further than just standing beside them in the gym counting their reps.

"I work best with those aged 35-65 who are unsure or a little stuck on what is best when it comes to their own health and wellness.

"With so much information out there of course it is!

"They are often professionals or business owners who tend to be quite under pressure at work, home and in life in general and need guidance and support to ease some of that and to allow them to feel healthy and happy."

The films will feature some of the many great locations where people can exercise or visit to keep fit and healthy.

They mirror the type of sessions and advice that Gary gives to his clients.

Gary Goldie:

"People will recognise my job as a personal trainer but I know it goes a lot further than just standing beside them in the gym counting their reps.

"I work best with those aged 35-65 who are unsure or a little stuck on what is best when it comes to their own health and wellness."

Gary said: "I have specifically designed programs based around those individuals needs and have close to ten years experience in this area.

"If you are feeling a little out of control concerning your own health and fitness and could be doing with a point in the right direction then please feel free to contact me."

Watch out for the films as they appear at Glasgow West End Today over the next few weeks.
