Proceeds will go to the charity which is based on the Gartnavel hospital campus.

The partnership has been announced as part of the West End's Christmas celebrations.

The big tree switch-on and Christmas market will take place on Sunday November 26.

Vinicombe Street will once again host a market and live musical performances from local bands and rock choirs.

Bella – the mascot from the Beatson Cancer Charity - will then light up the 20-foot Christmas tree.

Children will be able to post their letters to the North Pole via a special red post box on Ruthven Lane.

And the area will be bustling until late with stores offering festive offers and treats.

The festivities have been organised by the Byres Road and Lanes Business Improvement District, the organisation behind Visit West End.

David Howat is chair of the Byres Road & Lanes BID Company Ltd.

He said: “We’re back - last year was such a success that we couldn't wait to spread some festive cheer and light up the West End with our Christmas tree again on Byres Road.

“It’s time to get excited Glasgow, we have secured some amazing local acts to perform, and this year the local shops and businesses will dazzle and surprise with what you can find locally on your doorstep.

"So come down, support your local businesses and enjoy a large sprinkle of festive cheer and feel good atmosphere.”

Maisie Hamilton, Beatson Cancer Charity’s community fundraising manager, said: “Beatson Cancer Charity is delighted to be working in partnership for the first time with Visit West End, the Byres Road and Lanes Bid.

“Our mascot Bella Beatson will be making a star appearance to turn on the Christmas Lights and our fantastic team of volunteers will be doing collections throughout the day and selling Christmas cards.

“Thanks to the support from Visit West End, Beatson Cancer Charity can continue to provide vital funding to patient and family support services, plus a range of specialist posts including nursing, radiography, physics and research-based staff as well as additional staff training and development.”
