Vikings light up Glasgow for Celtic Connections

Celtic Connections has opened in spectacular style with a Viking torch-lit march through the streets of Glasgow.

These amazing images were taken by photographer Gaelle Beri for Europe’s premier winter music festival.

Shetland vikings welcomed audiences to Glasgow Royal Concert Hall with flaming torches, cheers and songs celebrating Up Helly Aa.

Celtic Connections has opened in spectacular style with a Viking torch-lit march through the streets of Glasgow.

Fire and costume created a fearsome scene against the winter cityscape.

Two specially-commissioned shows are being staged to celebrate Shetland’s unique cultural history.

This year’s hybrid Celtic Connections programme spans around 60 lively in-person concerts.
