'I try to capture that side of the West End that is less well-known or photographed'

The former lawyer is preparing to release a collection of his work online.

They show a different side of the West End from the usual tourist hotspots.

The photographs of Cameron Munro capture less familiar scenes and locations from around the district.

The former lawyer has been snapping images on his doorstep for many years.

Now Cameron, who lives in Broomhill, is preparing to release a collection of his work online.

The amateur is sharing a selection of images with Glasgow West End Today.

They show streets and shopfronts from Dumbarton Road in Partick to Crow Road in Broomhill.

Shot in black and white and colour, the photographs capture the stark beauty of the West End in winter.

Although part of the Bus Pass generation it was taking a camera when walking round the area that helped heighten his interest in photography.

Cameron says: 'I was always interested in photography and about fifteen years ago when working as a lawyer it was creative antidote to the straight lines of the job.

'I cannot claim to have a natural eye but in taking photographs one is compelled to attend in greater detail to the specific composition of the image.

'This has been helped since I bought a Canon 5D Mark III. The 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses are superb.'

His collection of images includes areas familiar to visitors and parts that not touched by guidebooks.

Cameron says: 'I have developed a collection of images, principally black and white, of most parts of the west end and will be putting these on line later this year.

'There are so many parts to what we call the west end; the University, Art Galleries, Byres Road with the cobbled Lanes, Tennents Bar and the Botanic Gardens.

'These provide a visual ambience recognised most by visitors but there is a much wider hinterland and in part I try to capture those areas that are less well known or photographed.'
