The presents can be donated at the Christmas tree which will be going up on Vinicombe Street.

From there they will be distributed to people who need them most.

Local traders group Visit West End has teamed up with the pioneering charity Social Bite to support the giving.

Shops and businesses will be promoting the ‘Festival of Kindness’ in their stores.

Visit West End is operated by the Byres Road & Lanes business improvement district group.

Details of the festival are detailed in its latest newsletter.

'Wish list'

It reads: “Preparations for our Christmas tree on Vinicombe Street are well under way.

“This year we working with Social Bite on an exciting collaboration which will include the tree as an important part of their Festival of Kindness, spreading festive goodwill from the West End to those who need it most.

“From November 26 to December 23, Social Bite is asking the public to buy gifts and donate them to the Glasgow Tree of Kindness on Vinicombe Street.

“From here, they will be distributed across Scotland to help the most vulnerable this winter.

“Social Bite has created a gift wish list of items that will make the most impact on people in need.”

Social Bite says on its website: “Following the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, homeless and vulnerable people need our help this Christmas more than ever.

“At Social Bite, we are encouraging people to help create a movement of kindness to spread festive goodwill to those who need it most.”
