'Oi Mamma' opens down the line in Bearsden

Offering 'mix of classic Italian recipes with modern Mediterranean twist'

A new restaurant has opened (Friday February 10) just a short train ride out of the West End.

Oi Mamma is a new-style Italian diner in Bearsden that replaces Raffaele's Restaurant, which closed last month.

The new destination is a short train hop of 15 mins from Partick or 12 mins from Hyndland on the Milngavie line. Step off at Hillfoot Station and you are two minutes from the door.

The team behind Oi Mamma say they are setting out “the goal of creating stylish Italian hospitality and connecting with a younger neighbourhood customer.

"The design will be bold and glamorous, creating a celebratory space that reflects the fun cuisine, signature cocktails, and lively atmosphere of Oi Mamma.”

'Loud and bold'

They say the menu is "a mix of classic Italian recipes with a modern Mediterranean twist".

Dishes include Nduja Hummus, Sourdough flatbread; Whole Lemon Sole on the bone served with Brown Butter, Shrimps, Samphire, Amalfi lemon and Tagliolini with Pecorino Basil & Creamy Burrata.

Fresh pasta is a made daily and a variety of pizzas will be available, all made with dough that has been proofed for 72 hours to maximize flavour and ensure a light and distinct crust.

Oi Mamma director Amalia Colaluca said: "Oi Mamma, a loud and bold Italian eatery that serves a 'new look' for the neighborhood, will open this month. Our family-friendly restaurant will be vibrant from the inside out, providing local residents with a new place to eat and drink."

Head chef Giovanni Di Camillo said: “We aim to honor the team's traditional family roots and warm Italian hospitality while also celebrating the much-loved neighborhood's personality. Our menu will be simple and flavourful, with classic Italian crowd-pleasers and a celebration of Italian produce".

Oi Mamma is the first Italian focused restaurant brand from entrepreneurs Amalia Colaluca and Joe Lazzerini- the team behind The Loveable Rogue.

Since 2020, they have opened three restaurant concepts in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.
