The West End is hosting the first-ever showdown between the national teams of Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales in the unique sport of “Ultimate Frisbee” this weekend.
Taking place at Hillhead Sports Club in Hyndland, it marks a historic moment and is billed as the “ultimate sporting battle” in this emerging and increasingly popular sport.
Four Nations Ultimate - or 4NU for short – is the first-ever clash between home nations teams, marking a historic moment for the sport in the UK and Ireland.
High-pressure
Played with mixed gender teams and under fast, high-pressure rules, 4NU delivers elite-level Ultimate Frisbee at its most intense.

The tournament will showcase the very best of mixed Ultimate Frisbee action, culminating in a final to crown the champions.
One of the organisers Shaun Webb is a prominent figure in the Scottish Ultimate Frisbee scene.
Shaun said: “This keenly-contested trophy and the spectacle of highly-skilled players from the four nations make for a landmark event bringing the sport further recognition and elevating it further in the public’s consciousness.
“Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting display of skills, tactics, athleticism and sportsmanship.

“Although the sport has a growing following, it is still in its infancy. We are passionate about growing the game and bringing the sport to a whole new generation of players.
“The UK and Ireland have a wealth of dedicated and talented athletes and it is our belief that the 4NU format is the best way to showcase our sport to a larger audience.
“This unique tournament will unite fans with a festival atmosphere and ignite new rivalries between sporting nations.”

The event has attracted wide sponsorship including from the philanthropic organisation The Watson Foundation.
4NU will also honour the memory of a late former player, Matt Tomlinson, with the trophy named in his honour.
The event would not have been possible without fundraising from the Tomlinson family.
Tickets are now on sale at £5 for adults and free for the under 16s.
