A fast-growing running club set up just six months ago to serve Glasgow’s West End has won the backing of Scottish Athletics.
West End Road Runners (WERR) is to become Scotland’s newest accredited running club following approval of its application by the Scottish Athletics board in June.
Fast track: West End Road Runners is now a recognised club.
The club is attracting adults of all ages and aspirations, from people who want to complete their first Parkrun to more experienced runners who are looking to build their speed, endurance or fitness.
“Running is enjoying a golden era in Scotland and we are located in an area which has seen a real surge of interest in the sport.
"We can offer excellent coaching and support for anyone who wants to get involved,” said WERR Chairman Graeme Jack.
Competition: Club members compete in a number of events across Scotland.
“WERR has quickly built a reputation as a friendly running club and our base at Woodend Bowling & Lawn Tennis Club in Jordanhill is central and accessible, so that we can enjoy running the streets, canals and parks in the area.
“Great credit goes to our founder members, all of whom have played their part in establishing a club which in future, will make a real contribution to the West End.”
