He was last seen running in the direction of the city centre on Devonshire Terrace.

The male suspect is described as white, around 5 ft 8 ins tall and was wearing a black hat, black face covering and sunglasses.

He was also wearing a black and white top, black trousers, gloves and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty, of Glasgow CID, said: "Thankfully the two women who were working in the shop at the time were unharmed in this incident, but they have understandably been left very shaken.

'Dash cams'

"I am appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the suspect in the area before or running away after the incident.

"We believe he may have entered the petrol station from the same path he ran away in the direction of.

"I am also appealing to any drivers who were in the area at the time with dash cams to check back and see if they may have caught any footage of the suspect."
