Yardworks opens in a blaze of colour

One of Europe’s biggest events dedicated to street art and graffiti continues Sunday

Glasgow’s celebration of world-class street art has opened in a blaze of colour.

The Yardworks Festival is on over the course of the weekend at SWG3 in Yorkhill.

The event is one of Europe’s biggest and best events dedicated to street art and graffiti.

The venue’s outside yards have been transformed into a concrete gallery of striking wall art and imagery.

Saturday was the first day and the festival continues Sunday from 11am.

'Biggest'

A release on the opening day reads: “Today was the first day of Yardworks Festival at SWG3, one of Europe’s biggest and best events dedicated to street art and graffiti.

“Sun and blue skies were the backdrop as world renowned graffiti and street artists began work on their pieces, offering a unique opportunity for audiences to watch murals being created live, from scratch.

“Over the course of the weekend the venue’s vast outdoor spaces are being transformed into a concrete playground of colour and creativity with a 200 metre graffiti maze, archways, walls, buildings and shipping containers all acting as the artists’ canvases.

 

Sun and blue skies were the backdrop as world renowned graffiti and street artists began work on their pieces, offering a unique opportunity for audiences to watch murals being created live, from scratch.

“From traditional New York style tagging to more contemporary lettering and sign painting, the full spectrum of street art styles are on show.”

Day two of Yardworks Festival continues tomorrow from 11am.
