Fopp on Byres Road has been saved from closure and is to reopen on Saturday - with all the staff back in their jobs.
It's just five days since the iconic shop was axed under a deal to rescue HMV.
But tonight there was a surprising twist that will delight Glasgow's many music fans.
HMV said a deal had been struck between its new owner Canadian Doug Putman and the building's landlord.
A statement read: "Following successful negotiations, we can confirm that the iconic Fopp, Byres Road store will re-open for business tomorrow (February 9).
"This is the best outcome for everyone and we are delighted to share the good news with all those who have been so supportive over the past weeks.
"There has been a huge amount of goodwill and a tremendous groundswell of support for this store in particular, with many customers and media campaigns calling for it to be re-opened.
'Amazing customers'
"We would like to thank all of the bands and musicians, and especially our amazing customers, whose support cannot be underestimated."
Landlord Lindsay Crawford, of Grovemoor Properties, said he was delighted at the reopening of the store.
The statement said he recognised the importance of this particular location as "the home of Fopp".
The shop is a stone's throw from where the music store first started, as a market stall in 1981.
New HMV and Fopp owner Doug Putman said: "I am proud to say we have the most knowledgeable and committed staff, and it gives me great pleasure to see such a well loved and renowned part of Scottish music retail history open for business ready to welcome all of our loyal customers once again."
News of the dramatic turn around came through on Twitter from the store itself.
A tweet read: "We're extremely delighted to reveal that our @FoppByresRpad store will reopen tomorrow, pop in and say hi."

The Fopp store was one of 27 HMV outlets that were on a list to close issued on Tuesday.
There was no explanation for the decision to cease trading with immediate effect.
Its loss was met with outcry from passionate music fans and businesses.
Glasgow North MP Patrick Grady expressed his concern to administrators KPMG.

Media reports earlier today said Canadian record shop entrepreneur Doug Putman was in talks with landlords of the 27 premises to save the shops.
Administrators had earlier this week said six staff at Byres Road had been made redundant.
Mr Grady said: "“This is fantastic news for the staff, the Byres Road community, the West End economy, and music lovers everywhere.
"Fopp is an iconic institution in Glasgow’s music and creative scene, as the reaction to the initial closure showed.
"I’m delighted that an agreement has been reached between the landlord and Sunrise records to keep the store open.
"The challenge now is for West Enders and the wider community to show how much they value their local shops by making sure business is brisk enough to keep the store as a going concern.

There is no word so far on the fate of the other two stores affected by closure this week.
If The Guardian report is anything to go by, it seems that Putman and Sunshine Records are to talks to reopen these too.
