A famous West End bar is under going a £275,000 refurbishment.
Work on The Thornwood pub in Dumbarton Road will begin this week.
Glaswegian licensee Marc Ferrier, who is co-owner of the iconic Admiral bar on Waterloo Street, is joined in the venture by business partner Kenny Hamilton.

They are promising to transform what was a tired local into a quality traditional pub serving great food and drink.
As part of the plans, licence variations are being sought to enable families with children to use The Thornwood.
The pub is scheduled to reopen in the second half of March creating 13 new jobs.
Marc said: “Glasgow is a city of doers and you really see that in its pub and bar scene, which is one of the best and most creative in Europe and attracts dynamic operators and talented staff.
"I feel fortunate to have found a second pub with so much potential here.

“We want to give The Thornwood a new lease of life and make it somewhere that residents feel proud to have in their neighbourhood.
"There’s not a traditional pub serving food in the area and our aim is to fill that gap.”
The Thornwood was one of the first art deco pubs in Glasgow and the plans are sympathetic to its heritage.
The outside will be carefully renovated whilst, inside, features such as panelling, cornicing and the pub’s wooden bar with brass fittings will be restored.
Hidden features, such as the building’s brickwork and sandstone, will be exposed.

The work includes the installation of a new kitchen so that Marc and Kenny can introduce food which will be locally sourced.
Weekend brunch is set to be a speciality and The Thornwood will open at 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.
The refurbishment is being undertaken in conjunction with Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars.
Brian Davidson, Star Pubs & Bars operations director for Scotland, said: “Marc has an outstanding reputation in the city’s pub trade and we feel fortunate to be working with him.

"The Admiral is a much-loved Glasgow institution and I’ve every confidence that The Thornwood will be a similar success.”
Star Pubs & Bars has 270 pubs in Scotland and over 50 in the Glasgow area including 15 in the city centre.
