A summer programme of free family events and galas has been announced.
Halo Arts is planning a series of festivities at different locations around the West End.
After the impact of the pandemic in recent years, this summer is feeling a little warmer already.
The programme starts with the Vinicombe Street Gala, and culminates in the Queen Margaret Drive Festival & Great Street Play.
The expanded programme builds on the welcome gatherings that took place last summer between lockdowns.
Halo Arts have many years experience of staging vibrant and imaginative events and running a community outreach programme.
'Inclusive and accessible'
Brendon McIlroy is Halo Arts’ artistic director, who has worked in senior roles including with the West End Festival, Pride Glasgow and Edinburgh Fringe.
He said in the absence of many community programmes that once took place in the West End, he hoped to fill the void with “events that are inclusive, accessible and open to all”.
He said: “Now things seem to be returning to some semblance of normality, we’re delighted to be in a position to announce an exciting and much needed programme of community events in the West End this Summer.”
Brendon said Halo Arts wanted to reach out to different communities across the city.
Events are free to enter and accessible to all groups regardless of their economic background.
Recent years has seen a rise in events organised by commercial companies who charge for admission.
Brendon said in even in times where money is tight free events were still alive.
Now things seem to be returning to some semblance of normality, we’re delighted to be in a position to announce an exciting and much needed programme of community events in the West End this Summer.

He said: “It’s important that people know these events are inclusive, accessible and open to all and that free events aren’t going anywhere.
“The West End is a big place and not every community is affluent and not everyone has the money to take their families to these things.
“It’s really important to us that free events, concerts and experiences don’t die off!”
“These events are free and always will be!”
