Revealed at last: Byres Road plans will be unveiled at Hillhead Library 'design days'

A series of drop-in events are being held to brief and involve the public in the improvement of the road.

A number of 'initial design options' for Byres Road will be revealed later today.

The early ideas will feature at a series of 'design-days' being staged at Hillhead Library this week.

Funding to the tune of £9 million through the City Deal was announced last year.

The maney will go on improving the so-called public realm - pavements, street furniture, tree planting, signage and cycle facilities.

A team of town planners has been brought in to lead the public consultation.

A bulletin issued by the team reads: "We need your feedback to help us get to the best solution for everyone who lives, works or visits Byres Road.

'BIG FOCUS'

"Come and have your say."

The drop-in design days are the 'big focus' of the planning process, say the team.

The process kicked off in February when more than 170 people attended a public meeting at Partick Burgh Hall.

The design days are between 1pm-7pm on Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday August 16.

Initial design options will be on display, with the design team there to hear your thoughts.

Packed: Partick Burgh Hall was filled with more than 170 people.

All three sessions will be in Hillhead Library (ground floor).

The team says: "This is your opportunity to shape the future of the street!"

A business breakfast is also being held between 8am and 10am on Tuesday 15 August for anybody who works on or near Byres Road.

That early session with the design team will be at The Hill, 94 Byres Road.
