The West End will help host the annual Glasgow Taxis Cup next month.
The competition sees more than 700 students across 16 sports represent Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Glasgow Caledonian universities as the institutions compete to be Glasgow’s best sporting institute.
The full-day event will take place on Wednesday 14 March.
The cup is hosted by the three university sports presidents: Chris Daisley (Glasgow Caledonian), Habbi Linton (Strathclyde) and Isabella Heath (Glasgow).
This year’s competition will feature athletics, badminton, basketball, cross country, equestrian, football, fencing, golf, hockey, netball, rugby, snowsports, swimming, tennis, trampolining and volleyball.
Points are allocated to the winner of individual sports event in order to decide the victorious university.
The Glasgow Taxis Cup is now in its fifteenth year with Glasgow having won the competition ten times and Strathclyde with four victories.
Much of the sporting action will take place at Scotstoun Sports Campus, Stepps Playing Fields, Garscube Sports Complex and GCU Arc.
Event sponsors Glasgow Taxis Ltd have been supporting this student sports event since 2011 and have committed their involvement until 2025.
Chris Daisley, student president Glasgow Caledonian University Students’ Association said: “Participating in sport at university is a great way for students to lead an active lifestyle and build their confidence through these social networks.
"The Glasgow Taxis Cup is the pinnacle sports event of the year for GCU students and we’ll be ready to face our biggest rivals in March 2018."
Isabella Heath, sports president Glasgow University Sports Association, said: “Glasgow University teams are confident about defending the title for the 8th year in a row.
"We’re looking forward to a great day of sports competition across the city."
Habbi Linton, vice president sport and wellbeing, Strathclyde University Sports Union, said: “Strathclyde University have been close to winning the Glasgow Taxis Cup recently, we want to take the next step and lift the trophy again.
"The finale at the National Badminton Academy at Scotstoun Sports Campus will be the place to be when the result unfolds and we’re hoping the maroons will come out on top."
